Weird sisters
Once there was only dark.
It begins with absence and desire.
Our story curiously weaves together the famous glosses of two series, True detective and A Discovery of Witches. In our lives, pain is linked to an empty place. A place once inhabited by creative souls close to us. Brother, father, husband. Ondřej, Ivo, Kryštof.
They were ahead of their time, they didn’t get enough support, they lost their strength. The outside world will always look for an explanatory framework. We prefer to prevent it from happening. To offer a safe place where creative souls can fall to and rise from with dignity.
We are three ordinarily extraordinary, extraordinarily ordinary women. Three weird sisters. Three founders. Bára, Ivana, Markéta. Through wide range of life experiences gathered on our ways, we’ve learnt that nothing falls into our laps. Thus we decided to join forces and build a haven for creative souls. To care for it and nourish it.
There have been times, lately, when I dearly wished that I could change the past. Well, I can't, but I can change the present, so that when it becomes the past it will turn out to be a past worth having.
Terry Pratchett
The only way to achieve the impossible is to believe that it is possible.
Lewis Carroll
We like doing things that escape crowd’s eyes and enjoy them together in silence without a hype on social sites and dashboards. We rejoice in the moments when no one needs us, when the world can spin around on its own without calling for our help, when we can stare into the bright green grass combed by the mischievous wind.
We’ve noticed a strange thing: when we describe how we live to others, they often don’t believe us. They accuse us of making things up. It seems that somehow, miraculously, we managed to remain in Wonderland. While it is not available to most people, some begin to remember it.
We don’t brag about academic titles in Tišina. We could tell you that we were trained in various academic disciplines, studied number of schools, and were granted with papers written in Latin. But that’s not enough in real life. We can walk around boasting about our deep knowledge in this and that, but that will not make a home. That will not make a village. A tribe. Our eyes have seen a lot, our hands have held a lot, and our souls… they felt the limitless darkness, danced with the demons of destruction and drunk from cups of bitterness. They have known loneliness, experienced helplessness and coldness. Then they stood up, looked up on the sun and left the darkness fall behind them, never to look at it again.
Ivana Stefkova

She enjoys creating safe spaces for sharing tales, weaving connections between people, sipping Sonnentor teas and filtered coffee, and underlining interesting texts in Kindle books. She loves the poems of Jan Skácel, the short stories of Jan Čep, and the songs of Mumford & Sons. She likes to laugh. She has one husband, two children, two male cats and one cat lady.
Marketa Trubackova
Architect and guardian of the legacy of Kryštof Trubáček, the creative soul who found limitless universe in Mariz. Moreover, she runs an artistic café in Slavonice.
She likes to create things that are permanent and in harmony with the space. When she realised that the time of Gothic cathedrals has passed, she started to look for them on the edges. She guards the space entrusted to her and gives creative souls a place to flourish. She has a carpentro-anthropologist for a son and a white Sudeten bell that rings with the accent of a furry bark when needed. She enjoys good coffee, the Northern Lights, walks in alleys, and poems covered with dust.
Bara Dvorakova
Immunologist and science populariser. Since 2017, she has been telling people the stories from science, about the human body and its wondrous immune system. She teaches through stories and fairy tales. She helps to peek behind the curtain of the hidden mysteries, to look for the right words to describe them and paths to take.
She breathes in books and breathes out words that attract creative people. She loves to shine a light on them and help them be heard and seen. She loves the depth and width of the Discworld, the beauty of Middle Earth, the poetry of the East, the sunset on the West and the stars above. She has a blonde rocket for a daughter and a black meowing obstacle to trip over.
